Glowing Gathering has been awarded by the Fundació Fita-VAD, International festival of video and digital arts, which this year takes place from 7th to 16th October at the “Casa de Cultura” and the “La Mercè” in Girona.

Glowing Gathering is a work in progress. It is a project inspired by models of human organization. It tries to discover the beauty of consciousness / unconsciousness of society organization over the individual point of view. The inspiration source was a an aerial tirp by night seeing a capital of Europe and it’s surroundings. From that exprience an investigation on aesthetic patterns begun: the earth in the dark and thousands of lights glowing with tiny stories to tell each of them, and suggesting from the distange patterns similar to roots entering the planet earth. From a sky point of view, man loses his ego and becomes a social network, organic and natural.

A reflection on the organization of the individual human ego, both structural and social.

Glowing Gathering  is an interactive installation that detects the light and begins to generate images when the viewer places a candle somewhere in the space.

A cenital projector recreates impossible cities wherever the viewer have left a candle, creating patterns similars to roots or aerial images of a city that gradually emerge from those coordinates.

Although it is apparently from the individual that was shaping the world, man as a seed from which everything starts, seen in a magnified scale space-time we realize that the harmony of patterns generated exceeds the individualistic vision. The artist invites people to think about the self, the ego, the collectivity and the place that all those occupies in the cosmos.
The prize was awarded ex aequo together with “There is No Place Like Home” by the group with the same name.
